downturn affected your business? What steps
have your taken to help hoteliers in this economy?

In 2009 many large projects have been placed
"on Hold" ,however,we continue to
have many requests for quotes for projects scheduled
to be installed in 2010 and 2011.Orders for
smaller projects have been active all year and
we expect sales in 2009 to be lower than previous
years.We have taken this opportunity to review
and improve all areas of the business by adding
more inventory at our Oakland warehouse so we
can deliver within a few days on receipt of
orders.We are also working closely with our
factories for faster delivery of orders and
have developed new designs and finishes.More
importantly we can work more closely with our
clients to quickly provide for their special
needs.
With the economy in mind we are in the process
of designing a lower price line of planters
to meet budget projects without sacrificing
the quality of the products.By producing new
designs and sizes we can lower the cost as well
as shipping.We are also working with the carriers
to offer maximum discounts for all our clients.
For quantity orders IAP will work with the hoteliers
to offer best prices.
3) What do you see as the future of
Hotel industry? What major trends will impact
hotel business in coming 20 years?
People will continue to travel perhaps watching
cost more closely. There will always be a market
for 5 star hotels as one group of investors
that lost money,another group received the benefit.Its
likely that 3 and 4 star hotels would probably
be more active due to lower room cost,however
,due to the Internet its necessary for hotels
to make sure their web sites are inviting. The
design of the lobbies are critical as hotel
guests would like their first impression to
be a pleasant one.Too often inexpensive accessories
destroy the integrity of the design.
The clean contemporary designs will continue
to be the trend but its important that experienced
designers are the specifiers to avoid the glass
and brass version of good modern design
